A VERY long weekend … winner, winner, Eiffel Tower chicken dinner

A girls’ weekend in Paris that turned into a 7 week holiday.

A day of iconic Paris landmarks.

Liz and Ange headed to Sacre Coeur. Mel and I met up with Jackie for coffee before we all headed to Notre Dame.

It was only a few short weeks later that Jackie and I were sitting in a cafe in London watching updates of the devastating fire that destroyed the spire and more. Such a shock that something that has stood so long was gone so quickly.

Jackie and I had been before, so we sat in the sun while the others went inside. So glad we all got to see it before it was closed.

Something I didn’t know about previously was point zéro des routes de France – supposedly the point from which the distances to all other places in France is measured. And, allegedly, if you put your foot on the brass plaque there, you will return. So, of course, we did. So we will.

After we all went home for a rest, we met under the Eiffel Tower for our dinner on the first floor at 58 Tour Eiffel.

Apart from the company, which obviously was the best thing about the night, I especially enjoyed my foie gras terrine.

The herb roasted chicken was good,

as was the chocolate and coffee birthday cake we had for dessert.

But it was all about the celebration.

In bed by midnight. Lucky I don’t have an early train to catch tomorrow. But I do have a train to catch.
