Bash it! When a 9-hour drive takes 9 days

The Variety Bash started in in 1985 and has continued taking the long way round ever since, raising money along the way.

This year’s Queensland leg is from Gladstone to Townsville – a drive that would normally take 9 hours if you took the direct route. But the Bash would never do that.

And, because they like to take the back roads, they went past our house today. I managed a few photos of some of the cars.

All vehicles must be at least 30 years old. Silly horns and sirens are, apparently, NOT optional.

Variety is a children’s charity which helps children and their families with financial support for things like wheelchairs, specialist equipment, therapy, and medical supplies, when they can’t afford it, and when government assistance isn’t available.
