We are Jenny and Stu, living in a (very) small town in central Queensland, Australia. Our kids have left home and now it’s time for us to see a bit more of the world. Follow us on our holidays and, from time to time, look back at some of our past trips.
“Goannas” are large Australian lizards and is a nickname a friend gave us for no apparent reason. But we like it.
We started this blog in response to friends who wanted to follow us on our 30th Wedding Anniversary holiday in 2013. That didn’t turn out to be a roaring success, partly due to patchy access to wifi and partly due to being too busy enjoying ourselves.
Luckily, Jenny keeps a written diary of our holidays and used this to complete the trip report after we returned home, and to relive other trips.
My other blogs are:
Accidental Words: A Fictionary. Some intentional and unintentional new words, and hopefully a bit of humour.
The Third Drawer Down: the place where all the other stuff goes.
And here’s an ABC of me. Inspired by this blogger to put this together.
Hi Jenny and Stu
Thanks for following. I’m a happy camper now you are joining me as I trip around by RV, plane, car and time machine to the past.
Comments, compliments, critiques and wisecracks are most welcome.
I am enjoying your travels. Seems like you had a great time!
“See” you again soon.

Hi. I’m Frances who was afraid of heights and took her first plane ride weeks before her 50th birthday. Things are more than a bit busy in my life, but I’m hoping to get a bit of traveling in soon. Meanwhile I have your adventures to inspire me. Ciao.

Good on you Frances. I’m thrilled that I can help inspire you to greater heights (pun intended).

I’ve always admired people who realize the empty nest is the next phase in life and actually do something different to enjoy it.

Thank you. I never quite thought of it like that, but it’s a good way to look at it.

Perhaps you’d remember then Austen Tayshus’ Australiana? “Do you wanna Goanna”. 🙂 Enjoying your newly discovered blog — not sure where in Central Qld you are living, but I am in Brisbane. Cheers!

I do indeed remember Austen Tayshus … he’ll definitely try to lead you astray Lianna!
Have you ever heard of a tiny town called Comet? I’m a Brisbane girl originally but don’t think I could live there now.
Thanks for the follow. I look forward to seeing your pics of Brisbane.

I could go Google it, but I think it is out near Emerald? I’m originally from “I think he’s trying to crack on Toowoomba”. LOL Brisbane is ok — I lived in a couple of bigger cities during a decade of living in the USA, so it was easy to come back.

Half way between Emerald and Blackwater. Don’t blink, OK?
I’ll bet you’ve seen a cockatoo.

Thanks for stopping by. This photo was taken on Franz Josef Glacier in New Zealand. We did a half day guided hike. Such a wonderful experience.
