US in the US … incongruoUS art

Today was the final day of our road trip. Our last port of call before heading to Las Vegas was Rhyolite – a gold mining ghost town on the edge of Death Valley.

As we approached, we saw a small museum, which was sadly closed that day, and some really weird-looking art that is so out of place it becomes interesting. As interesting as … well … a penguin in the desert.

Climb every mountain!

Leonardo da Vinci designed it for scaling city walls, and it’s evolved into mountaineering equipment used today.


Just one of the exhibits featured in Da Vinci Machines currently on display at the Rockhampton Art Gallery.


Always take the weather … on an arty walk or a steep climb

Our walk to the Hunter Art District was unexpected. We were looking for something else but took the time to enjoy some of the lovely public art. The Museum looks impressive but time was against us so we didn’t visit it.
