A VERY long weekend … along Regent’s Canal

A girls’ weekend in Paris that turned into a 7 week holiday.

I had planned to visit the Foundling Museum today but a Skype call from Stu and our grandkids was more important so there’s another thing that will have to wait ’til next time. There’s always a reason to come back to London.

On the way to meet Jackie I went back to the Great Ormond Street Hospital to take some photos of the walls. Really? Yes, really. In this particular entrance the walls are covered with sculptures of children’s toys.

I met Jackie for a walk along Regent’s Canal …

… with a stop at Word on the Water – a quirky bookshop on a narrow boat. It’s full of books (of course) but also other knick-knackery and has great music playing.

Afterwards, I walked on to Camden Town where I accidentally strayed into the market which was so crowded I couldn’t get out fast enough. I watched boats coming through the lock for a while. I understand the basic principle of how locks work but I just can’t quite reconcile the concept in my head.

There was such an enormous crowd outside the Tube station that I decided against doing battle with them. Instead I went home via a long walk through Regent’s Park.

Thanks for travelling with us. We'd love to hear what you think.
