Uncle Stan: In Remembrance

Can you “remember” someone you never knew? Maybe not. But you can still honour the sacrifice. Last week I posted about our visit to some WWI memorials in France and Belgium, including the Commonwealth War Cemetery at Etaples to visit Uncle Stan’s grave. For anyone interested, here are some of the documents we have found online.

WARNING: Some of this is a bit gruesome as it describes his wounds and death.
Also, some of the hand writing is hard to decipher and there’s some discrepancies with the dates.

  1. A very interesting post. We have been visiting various museum exhibitions showing all kinds of items and documents relating to WW1 over recent months. Thank you for sharing your family history.

Thanks for travelling with us. We'd love to hear what you think.
